About the Program
Jill Lepore, staff writer at the New Yorker and American history professor at Harvard University, recalls the life of Benjamin Franklin's youngest sister, Jane Franklin. The author relays that Ms. Franklin was as skilled a writer and as politically astute as her brother. Jane, the mother of twelve children, maintained a long-standing correspondence with Benjamin, who wrote to his sibling more than any other person in his life. Jill Lepore speaks at the Free Library of Philadelphia. Jill Lepore's Book of Ages is a finalist for the 2013 National Book Award for non-fiction.
