About the Program

Sarah Carr follows a student, teacher, and principal as they traverse different segments of the educational system in New Orleans.  The author explores the results of the state legislature's decision in 2005, shortly after Hurricane Katrina, to reassign control of the majority of New Orleans' public schools to the Recovery School District administered by the state.  Sarah Carr speaks at Garden District Book Shop in New Orleans.
