In 1978 Stephen Hess surveyed 450 journalists who were covering the federal government for U.S. news organizations.    Over thirty years later, the author, senior fellow emeritus in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution, revisits 283 of his subjects, to report on what has changed in their respective careers and in American journalism in general.  Stephen Hess speaks at Politics & Prose Bookstore in Washington, D.C.  
 

About the Authors

Stephen Hess

Stephen Hess is a senior fellow emeritus in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution. He served on the White House staff of President Eisenhower and Nixon, and as an advisor to President Ford and Carter. He is the author of several books, including The Little Book of Campaign Etiquette.
