About the Program
Felix Rodriguez appeared on Booknotes in 1989 to discuss his memoir, "Shadow Warrior." Born in Cuba in 1941, he came to the U.S. to attend high school in Pennsylvania to fulfill dreams of becoming an engineer. However, after witnessing the rise of Fidel Castro in his native land he dedicated his life to opposing communism. As a CIA operative, he was involved in the ill-fated Bay of Pigs operation. In the following years he was involved in the tracking of the revolutionary Che Guevara. In this interview Rodriguez offers his first-hand account of capturing Guevara in Bolivia and his conversation with him before Guevara’s execution.
