About the Program
In this memoir, Clayborne Carson recounts his own journey from teen-aged civil rights activist, who was present at the 1963 March on Washington, to acclaimed historian and editor of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s papers. He includes encounters with many leaders and organizers in the Civil Rights Movement, including Ella Baker, Stokely Carmichael and the King family. Mr. Carson shares his experiences with race relations author and playwright Janet Langhart Cohen.
