About the Program
Authors spoke about various aspects of warfare and the impact of military action in Iraq and Afghanistan. Jake Tapper talked about his book, The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor, an account of one of America’s deadliest battles in Afghanistan. Benjamin Busch talked about his memoir, Dust to Dust, in which he recounts his childhood in rural New York, Marine training in North Carolina, and deployment during the worst of the war in Iraq. Brian Castner talks about his book, The Long Walk: A Story of War and the Life That Follows, in which he portrays the toll war exacts on the men and women who are fighting it. This event took place at the 2012 Miami Book Fair International held November 11-18, 2012 on the campus of Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida.
Jake Tapper
Jake Tapper is chief Washington correspondent and anchor for CNN. He is a former senior White House correspondent for ABC News and national correspondent for Salon.com. Mr. Tapper is the author of Down and Dirty: The Plot to Steal the Presidency and Body Slam: The Jesse Ventura Story.

Benjamin Busch
Benjamin Busch served two combat tours in Iraq as an infantry officer with the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Busch, an actor, director, producer, and writer, appeared in the HBO series “The Wire” and the HBO mini-series “Generation Kill.”

Brian Castner
