Antonio Mendez

About the Program

During the Iran Hostage Crisis in 1979, six Americans escaped from the U.S. embassy in Tehran and hid in the city.  The CIA launched a covert operation to find and get them out of the country that involved CIA officer Antonio Mendez playing the role of a Hollywood producer scouting out locations for a fake science fiction movie titled "Argo."  Mr. Mendez talks about the operation at an event hosted by the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC.
