Eric Alterman

About the Program

Eric Alterman, columnist for The Nation, presents a history of post-World War II liberalism in America and questions why the term, "liberal," is currently treated by many as a pejorative.  The author recounts the political and social movements that American liberals have supported, from civil rights and gay rights to the environment and examines liberalism's accomplishments and missteps.  Eric Alterman speaks at Barnes & Noble in New York City.
