About the Authors

Martin Indyk

Martin S. Indyk, former U.S. ambassador to Israel, is vice president and director of Foreign Policy Studies at Brookings.  He also serves as a senior adviser to Special Envoy for Middle East Peace George Mitchell.

Kenneth Lieberthal

Kenneth Lieberthal is director of the John L. Thornton China Center and senior fellow in Foreign Policy and Global Economy and Development at Brookings.  He was previously a professor at the University of Michigan. 

Michael O'Hanlon

Michael O'Hanlon, a senior fellow at Brookings, previously worked as a national security analyst at the Congressional Budget Office.
