About the Program

Mark Whitaker, managing editor and executive vice president of CNN Worldwide, recounts his childhood as the bi-racial son of an African-American, academic father and a French, emigrant mother.  Mr. Whitaker recalls his parents strained relationship and their eventual divorce, as his father struggled with alchoholism and his mother faced bouts of depression.  The author, a former editor and reporter at Newsweek and Washington bureau chief for NBC News, details his career path against the backdrop of his childhood and formative years.  Mark Whitaker speaks at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in New York City.
