About the Authors

Isabel Wilkerson

Isabel Wilkerson is a journalism professor and director of narrative nonfiction at Boston University.  She is a former feature writer for the Chicago bureau of the New York Times, where she was the first African-American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in journalism.  She has also been a recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship and the George Polk Award.  Ms. Wilkerson's The Warmth of Other Suns was the recipient of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction.  For more information, visit isabelwilkerson.com.
