About the Program

Brooke Hauser documents a year at the International High School in New York City, where twenty-eight languages are spoken and none of the student body are native English-speakers.  The author reports on the societal obstacles the students face and the many journeys they took to arrive in the United States.  Brooke Hauser discusses her book with Francis Flaherty, deputy editor of the Home Section of The New York Times at powerhouse Arena in Brooklyn, New York.
