About the Program
From the 2011 Harlem Book Fair, a panel discussion of Manning Marable's biography of Malcolm X. The panel includes, Herb Boyd, co-author, Civil Rights, Yesterday & Today, Peniel Joseph, Dark Days, Bright Nights: From Black Power to Barack Obama, Zaheer Ali, former associate director of Columbia University's Malcolm X Project, and author and activist Sonia Sanchez. The panel is moderated by Yohuru Williams, associate African American History professor at Fairfield Univesity. Manning Marable's Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention is the winner of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize in history.
Herb Boyd
Herb Boyd is the author of numerous books, including Brotherman: The Odyssey of Black Men in America co-edited with Robert Allen, which was the recipient of the American Book Award for non-fiction. He is an adjunct instructor in the Black Studies Department at City College and an African and African-American History teacher at the College of New Rochelle.

Peniel Joseph

Zaheer Ali
