About the Program

From Columbia University in New York City, the J. Anthony Lukas Prize Project Awards and panel discussion.  Eliza Griswold received the Lukas Book Award for her book, "The Tenth Parallel."  Isabel Wilkerson received the Lynton Prize for History for her book, "The Warmth of Other Suns."  And Alex Tizon received the the Work-in-Progress Award for his book, "Big Little Man."  Historian Taylor Branch acted as MC for the event and moderator for the panel discussion, which included two of the award recipients.

Isabel Wilkerson

Alex Tizon

Alex Tizon, who previously worked for the Los Angeles Times and the Seattle Times, is currently a faculty member at the University of Oregon (School of Jounalism and Communication).  He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting in 1997.  For more, visit: alextizon.com.
