About the Program
Robert Hirst, general editor of the Mark Twain Project at the University of California, Berkeley, recounts the recent publication of The Autobiography of Mark Twain, Volume One published 100 years after the author's death. Mr. Hirst describes the work involved in preparing the book for publication, his thoughts on its success (over four months on the New York Times best-sellers list), and responds to the criticism the book has received. Robert Hirst discusses the first volume of The Autobiography of Mark Twain at an event hosted by the University of California, Berkeley Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center in Lafayette, California.
