About the Program

Salman Rushie is author of four non-fiction works:

The Jaguar Smile: A Nicaraguan Journey (1987), Imaginary Homelands: Essays and Criticism, 1981–1991 (1992), The Wizard of Oz (1992), and Step Across This Line: Collected Nonfiction 1992 - 2002 (2002).

He is also author of a collection of short stories, entitled East, West (1994) and eleven novels:

Grimus (1975), Midnight's Children (1981), Shame (1983), The Satanic Verses (1988), Haroun and the Sea of Stories (1990), The Moor's Last Sigh (1995), The Ground Beneath Her Feet (1999), Fury (2001), Shalimar the Clown (2005), The Enchantress of Florence (2008), Luka and the Fire of Life (2010).

About the Authors

Salman Rushdie

Salman Rushdie is the Indian-born, award-winning author of ten novels, from "Grimus," in 1975 to "Luka and the Fire of Life," in 2010.  He's won the Whitbread  Prize for Best Novel for both "The Satanic Verses" and "The Moor's Last Sigh."  He's also won the Writers Guild Award and the Booker Prize for fictional works and several international literary honors.  In 2007, Queen Elizabeth appointed him a Knight Bachelor for services to literature.  Salman Rushdie is also author of four non-fiction works, co-editor of the anthology of contemporary Indian writing  "Mirrorwork," and was a guest editor for "The Best American Short Stories" of 2008.
