Steven Weisman

About the Program

Steven Weisman, editorial director at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, presents the letters of  the former Democratic Senator from New York, Daniel Patrick Moynihan.   The selection of correspondences spans Sen. Moynihan's professional career, from his time as a Harvard professor, to his ambassadorships to India and the United Nations, and his tenure in the Senate (1977-2001), .  Daniel Patrick Moynihan died in 2003 and although a prolific writer, he never authored an autobiography.  Steven Weisman leads a discussion on the former Senator with Peter Galbraith, senior diplomatic fellow at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, Stephen Hess, former adviser to Presidents Ford and Carter, Richard Ravitch, Lieutenant Governor of New York, and Senator Charles Schumer of New York.  The panel discussion takes place at the Museum of the City of New York.
