About the Program

Seth Stern and Stephen Wermiel recount the life and career of Supreme Court Justice William Brennan (1906-1997).  Utilizing access to documents granted by the former Justice prior to his death and which will not be released until 2017, the authors details the negotiations and debates that occurred on the high court during Justice Brennan's tenure.  The cases the William Brennan deliberated on ranged from Roe v. Wade and affirmative action to the death penalty and obscenity law.  Seth Stern and Stephen Wermiel present their book at Politics & Prose Bookstore in Washington, DC.
