Such Men As These: The Story of the Navy Pilots Who Flew the Deadly Skies Over Korea

David Sears

About the Program

David Sears, military historian and former U.S. Navy officer, profiles U.S. Navy combat pilots who flew during the Korean War.  The author examines James Michener's reportage of the aviators in 1951 that was used for his novel, The Bridges of Toko-Ri.  Mr. Sears used Mr. Michener's notes to find many of the aviators who gave their first-hand accounts of the conflict from the sky.  David Sears discusses his book at the Pritzker Military Library in Chicago.
