About the Program
From August 2010, former CIA officer John Kiriakou talks about his life in the Agency, both before and after 9/11. Mr. Kiriakou played a key role in the capture of Al Qaeda associate Abu Zubaydah and also aided U.S. officials with the planning of the Iraq War. He is interviewed by Frederick Hitz, former Inspector General of the CIA and current senior fellow at the University of Virginia's Center for National Security Law.
John Kiriakou was arrested by the FBI on January 23, 2012, in connection with the release of classified information regarding CIA officers involved in the arrest of Abu Zubayduh. Mr. Kiriakou was sentenced to 30 months in prison on January 25, 2013, and is the first person to be convicted under the Intelligence Identities Protection Act in 27 years.
