Ms. Butler talked about her new book, East to the Dawn: The Life of Amelia Earhart, published by Addison Wesley Longman. The book examines her life and times, and her marriage to publisher George Putnam who promoted his wife's adventures and feats. Ms. Butler's book coincides with the 100th anniversary of Amelia Earhart's birth and 60th anniversary of her disappearance.

Susan Butler was a freelance writer for The New York Times, Barron’s and other publications. She earned a MA from the Columbia University. She lives in Lake Wales, Florida.
