About the Program
Robert Poole, former executive editor of National Geographic, takes BookTV on a walking tour of Arlington National Cemetery. Mr. Poole discusses the inception of the cemetery and visits the grave of the first person buried in Arlington, a Union soldier from Pennsylvania. He describes the origins of the tomb of the unknown soldier and the numerous graves of former slaves that lived and died at the cemetery. Robert Poole also walks through section 60 where soldiers from the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are buried and we witness a Marine's funeral.
