Archie Brown, emeritus politics professor at Oxford University, presents a history of Communism.  Mr. Brown explores its early origins, the theories and publications of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, the rise of Communist governments and their demise following the Cold War.  Archie Brown discusses his book at the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C.

Archie Brown is emeritus professor of politics at Oxford University.  He is the author of numerous books, including The Gorbachev Factor, which was the recipient of  W.J.M. Mackenzie Prize of the Political Studies Association of the UK for best political science book of the year.
