My Father's Bonus March

Adam Langer

About the Program

Adam Langer recounts the Bonus March of 1932, when 20,000 WWI vets marched on Washington for two months in the hopes of receiving advance payment of bonuses that were due in 1945.   Mr. Langer's father, Seymour, was intrigued by the event and talked of writing a history of the march for thirty years.  The author's research into the Bonus March was his way to reconnect and better understand his late father.  President Herbert Hoover ordered the U.S. Army to evict Bonus Marchers from camps in Washington, D.C. on July 28, 1932.  Adam Langer presents his book at The Book Stall at Chestnut Court in Winnetka, Illinois.
