About the Program

Thomas Reed, co-author of "The Nuclear Express," talks about the creation and proliferation of the nuclear bomb.  He also talks about the possibility of a terrorist obtaining a nuclear bomb that could be delivered to a major U.S. city via a shipping container or in some other unconventional way.  Mr. Reed spoke at the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.     

About the Authors

Thomas Reed

Thomas Reed was secretary of the Air Force under President Ford and President Carter, and was special assistant on national security policy for President Reagan.  He was also a nuclear weapons designer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.  Mr. Reed is the author of "At the Abyss: An Insider's History of the Cold War."
