Peter Mancall

About the Program

Peter Mancall, director of the University of Southern California's Huntington Early Modern Studies Institute, recounts the life and expeditions of explorer Henry Hudson (1565-1611) in observance of the 400th anniversary of the river that bears his name.  Mr. Mancall focuses on Hudson's final expedition in search of a Northwest Passage in the Artic in 1610, a voyage that resulted in Hudson's crew committing mutiny and the explorer never being seen again.  This event was hosted by the Museum of the City of New York in New York City.
