David Broder talked about his book, "The System: The American Way of Politics at the Breaking Point," co-authored with Haynes Johnson. The book examines in detail how "the system" of congressional partisanship prevented a reform of the U.S. health care system by the Clinton administration.  David Broder passed away on March 9, 2011. 

About the Authors

David Broder

David Broder won a Pulitzer for commentary in 1973 and numerous other awards and academic honors, including the National Press Foundation's Distinguished Contributions to Journalism Award in 1993 and the White Burkett Miller Presidential Award in 1989.  He was a columnist for the Washington Post and the author of several books about contemporary politics.
