Kevin Mattson, history professor at Ohio University, recalls Jimmy Carter's "malaise speech" delivered on July 15, 1979.  President Carter's response to his falling popularity and the country's recessionary woes was according to the author the catalyst for the rise of the conservative movement and contributed to the end of the Carter presidency.  This event was hosted by Busboys & Poets in Washington, DC.
