Jack McLean

About the Program

Jack McLean recounts his upbringing, he attended Phillips Andover Academy where he was a classmate of George W. Bush, and his decision to join the Marines and serve in the Vietnam War rather than attend college.  Mr. McLean was the first vet to attend Harvard University following the War and remarks on his service and the treatment he received upon his return from his tour of duty.  This event was hosted by the Army Navy Club in Washington, DC.

Jack McLeanJack McLean served in Vietnam with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division He was the first Vietnam veteran to attend Harvard University following his service. Jack McLean is currently the Tsien Writer in Residence in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
